The Givner Project

Mission Statement

Mission

The Mission of the TGP is to help children and adults from underserved communities move from poverty to financial independence through programming that supports the purchase, rehabilitation and sale of blighted properties throughout Allegheny County.

Vision

TGP's vision is to create a strong, more equitable Allegheny County by empowering residents who are frequently excluded from home ownership. Recognizing that home ownership is much more than a cold series of financial transactions and paperwork, TGP seeks to provide programming and resources that ensure that program beneficiaries thrive. TGP believes that strong families of all kinds make strong communities, and strong communities are a catalyst for larger community change.

TGP GARDEN PROJECT

“The residents at Pressley Ridge High Rise told the executive director Crystal Givner about the vacant garden behind the complex. This lot has not been tended to since the beginning of Covid 19.

We took a look at the space and got right to work! With the help of Bosetti landscaping TGP was able to bring this vegetable garden back to life.

We now have various fruits and vegetables.

TGP partnered with Learn and Earn to maintain this garden and teach the youth about the importance of cultivating the earth and community beautiful ”

operation bronze

The Bronze Project focuses on restoration of a vacant property with beautification. The property has been vacant for over 25 years and is an eye sore to the residents and homeowners on the block. Like so many homes that have been abandoned in this area, this lot gathers trash, blocks the sidewalk and has no purpose. This was once a block that took pride in yard work, shared holidays together and gathered peacefully in the backyards of Wilkinsburg. The Bronze Project aims to use this space for community gardening purposes, line dancing and relaxation.
